Aljazeera, A Selective Source Of Information
Reporting Demonstrations, Deaths, Destruction, Decadence
In the heart of a small country ruled by the most reactionary regime, we have this unusual phenomenon called Aljazeera which on the surface looks quite “informative” and “free”. It is similar to seeing a fish walking on the sand.
Those who have followed the way Ayatollah Khomeini took power in Iran in 1979 know that BBC radio had a lot to do with his success in taking a nation back hundreds of years creating a people with 10M absolute illiterates unable to read or write their own names but keen on Nuclear Energy! During revolution unsuspecting Iranians put their ears on the speakers of radios in dark rooms, out of fear receiving “news of revolution” and were “lead on” to the exact locations of “action” passed on to them by the GPS navigator called BBC.
Aljazeera looks so progressive and so democratic with presenters with different skin colours and various outfits and yet it is obsessed with showing explosion, poverty, violence, terrorism, you name it they show passionately to prove that “this is the type of people we are talking about”.
This T.V station has a job to do. It has the job of ignoring anything that is happening and is not benefitting the West and highlighting anything that is either along the lines of Western policies or as useless as the latest news of murder of a model girlfriend by a so called “champion” in South Africa.
Jane Arraf is their “Einstein” of the Middle East. She knows so much about every single aspect of life in every single country in the region that she may be able to start a consultancy firm giving advice to local politicians, sociologists and scientists! Some of her postings have attracted as little as 6 viewers on Utube. Although she sounds like an American but her surname is Arabic proving that she has either been or still is married to a “power broker” of the region and that’s the way it is. She thinks the MEK members in Iraq are indoctrinated and herself is a free woman working for Aljazeera.
Some people see other people’s lives clearer and less productive than their own.

One must watch this BBC navigation tool for the Middle East in order to be able to fathom the depth of “political agenda” that this station carries. Try to show interest in something pathetic and you will love the abundance and yet try to focus on something that really matters and you will notice the drought.
When Aljazeera shows rows and rows of old and young bearded people in Bangladesh, Mali, Afghanistan or elsewhere, raising their fists and chanting slogans against the world, Aljazeera fails to mention that colonialism is the cause of so much illiteracy and backwardness. It fails to acknowledge the history of meddling by US and European countries in the politics of those nations.
Wheel of history may be slowed down by actions of certain social forces but it will never stop no matter how hard some forces try to fabricate or exaggerate events against human struggle for justice and peace.
As “democrat”, “civilised”, “honest”, “law abiding” and “educated” people will behave, we will sit back, take our time and wait for Aljazeera to talk more about the “Arab and Moslem terrorists” of September 11 and how they managed to destroy the world trade centre Twin Towers and kill so many people in a powerful country responsible for shattering the “communist block” and do that from remote mountains and caves of Afghanistan. Is US that pathetic? You be the judge.
